The vacancy
Your journey begins here!
At Moore Barlow, we want our Trainee Solicitors to thrive as they begin their journey to becoming our partners and leaders of the future.
Applications for our 2028 Trainee Solicitor Programme are now open and will close at 11:59pm on Sunday 29 March 2026. All applications will be reviewed after the closing date, so please don’t rush to submit yours. Instead, take the time to do your research and make sure you submit your best possible application demonstrating everything you have learned about us.
Routes to apply
You can apply for either a place on our paid Summer Vacation Scheme, or to attend one of our Assessment Days.
The Vacation Scheme will take place at the end of June 2026, during which candidates will spend one week in the business working in one of our teams in either our City, Guildford, Richmond or Southampton office. At the end of the week, candidates will attend an Assessment Day in the Southampton office.
For those choosing to apply directly for an Assessment Day, these will take place in July 2026.
Shortlisted candidates will first be invited to a live video interview. From there we will select our final shortlist to join either the Vacation Scheme or an Assessment Day.
Location
We have offices in Guildford, London, Lymington, Richmond, Southampton, and Woking. As a trainee, you can expect to spend time in more than one location. This will allow you to experience different working environments, build your network within the firm, and gain exposure to a range of practice areas from Corporate to Family to Medical Negligence. Working alongside expert lawyers and a variety of clients you’ll receive a varied and first-class training experience.
We don’t expect you to choose your preferred location now, but the application form will ask whether you’d prefer to be based in our Surrey offices (Guildford, London, Richmond, Woking) or our Hampshire offices (Lymington, Southampton). Whichever you select, you’ll have the opportunity to work across our wider office network.

What our Trainees say
“One of the reasons I applied to Moore Barlow was the varied office locations, evidenced by my first two seats, in Southampton and then Guildford. It means teams that are split across multiple offices have a diverse range of clients and both varied and interesting work that as Trainees we are given vast exposure to. Due to Moore Barlow’s partner-led service, we not only have great exposure to the work, but also to the partners we work with, allowing us to learn from lawyers at the top of their fields. The level of responsibility we are afforded is galvanising and allows for excellent learning and development opportunities.
The support network available to us is also excellent, through our fantastic early careers team, people support team, a mentor, and a fellow Trainee buddy. You feel valued even before you start your Training Contract, and especially so once you begin. I can’t wait to carry on and complete the rest of my Training Contract at Moore Barlow, as I know I will be obtaining the vast skills and knowledge typical of every Moore Barlow solicitor.” - Michael Osner, Second Seat Trainee Solicitor
