Moore Barlow is currently seeking a Paralegal to join our Corporate Team in Southampton.

More about us:

Formed via a merger in 2020, Moore Barlow is a leading law firm with an aim to be the best law firm to work for regionally. We are a career firm, providing access to high-quality work, long-term career opportunities and an environment built on the premise of being “human first” in everything we do. Put simply, we care as much about your career as you do.

We are featured in The Times’ Best Law Firms 2025 list, and consistently achieve recognition for the quality of our services in the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners, including specific recognition for our Corporate Team.

More about the Corporate Team:

Our specialist Corporate Team has received recognition in both the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners for their expertise and the quality of service they provide their clients. Our team works with a wide range of clients, predominantly ambitious entrepreneurs and mid-market enterprises, helping them to grow, develop, and succeed by navigating them through the complex legal challenges they may face.

Our team focuses on developing a deep understanding of their client's business and commercial objectives, ensuring they receive tailored and dedicated advice about their matter, whether this is in relation to supporting them with their corporate governance and corporate advisory requirements, restructuring, disposals, acquisitions and mergers of businesses, shareholder and partnership agreements or general commercial contracts advice and drafting (and more!).

Day to Day:

As a Paralegal, you will play a key role within the team by managing your own workload whilst collaborating closely with colleagues of all seniorities in the team, working towards achieving the best possible outcomes for our clients.

In addition, you will:

  • Maintain corporate governance records and systems, including statutory books, registers, Companies House authentication codes, databases, governance information and document management platforms.
  • Administer Registered Office and SAIL services, including managing inboxes, correspondence, statutory documents, records, updates and related Companies House filings.
  • Prepare and manage statutory filings and compliance deadlines, including confirmation statements, Companies House submissions, compliance diaries and  company incorporations.
  • Support corporate documentation and transactions, including drafting minutes, resolutions, share certificates and stock transfer forms, and assisting with ancillary documents related to share capital changes, incorporations and post-completion matters.
  • Carry out company searches, due diligence and internal governance support, including insolvency searches, LLP/company filings, register maintenance and corporate compliance projects.
  • Support matter and best-practice processes, including billing, WIP reporting, client onboarding, procedure notes, guidance materials and efficient service delivery.
  • Contribute to business development initiatives and attend networking and client events.

This position will offer you an excellent opportunity for further professional growth and development and you will receive mentoring and support from the Partners in the team.

Intense targets and unsustainable working practices often go hand in hand with being a Corporate lawyer, but it doesn’t have to be that way. We believe that working in a friendly, supportive team that emphasises work/life balance is possible whilst still attracting and delivering work of outstanding quality, and achieving professional growth and development.

What we look for:

  • We estimate that this position will suit an individual at the earlier stages of their career, such as a law graduate. Prior experience as a Paralegal or in a corporate governance role would be beneficial, but is not a requirement for this position as on-the-job training will be provided.
  • You will be calm under pressure, adopt a naturally proactive approach to your work, have the ability to provide support to numerous colleagues across the team, with a professional approach and rigorous attention to detail.
  • You will be highly numerate, understand the importance of accuracy and comfortable working with numbers and accounts.
  • You will be confident in building relationships within and outside of your immediate team, and working collaboratively to achieve the best possible outcomes for our clients.
  • We are human-first in everything we do and seek people who share this trait. You will therefore have excellent verbal and written communication skills, a passion for helping clients achieve their goals and the ability to think creatively.

If you have the required skills and experience and are keen to advance your career as part of our leading Corporate Team, then we strongly encourage you to apply.
